The Isle of Bute - Scotland's first island in the Highlands, is just over an hour from Glasgow airport by road/rail and scenic ferry. It is remarkably accessible, but despite its proximity to the Scottish mainland, is an oasis of peace and tranquillity, with the easy going pace of island life.

Music Festivals, Regattas, Celebrity Weddings add to the natural attractions of the island, and golfing, fishing, walking & cycling is available for those seeking more activity.

The Royal Burgh of Rothesay regularly achieves awards in the Beautiful Scotland in Bloom competition and its public gardens are a riot of colour throughout the summer season.

Travelling to the Isle of Bute is a pleasure in itself with the main car/passenger ferry crossing from Wemyss Bay taking a mere 30 minutes. Alternatively, drive through some of Scotland's finest scenery, via Loch Lomond and the Rest & be Thankful, to Colintraive,  and take the 5 minute ferry crossing at the north end of the island.

A hopscotch ferry ticket is also available from Greenock to Dunoon, Colintraive to Rhubodoch & Rothesay to Wemyss Bay (or in reverse).
